You will be part of the Technology Platform team, which delivers the tools, services, governance and support developers use at Ticketmaster to build, test, secure, and deploy to our fans and clients.
THE JOB
In the role of Principal Engineer – SRE, you will be responsible for setting consistent engineering practices, governance and architecture across the suite of services offered by Technical Platform, including software pipeline, observability, public cloud, container engineering and orchestration, and data streaming. This platform is essential to Ticketmaster’s business, providing the tooling, practices, and expertise that our development engineering teams leverage to deliver, observe, and maintain the Ticketmaster suite
You will be responsible for ensuring that there is a cohesive technical vision across the platform teams, that consistent technical practices are observed, and that each individual service is broader portfolio providing development teams with a low friction, highly secure, highly available, cost-effective and consistent. You will be expected to participate in the technical delivery of projects within teams, participating in planning, and working stories or tasks which unblock broader initiatives or require cross-domain expertise.
You will work closely with platform leadership, software development leadership, technical operations leadership, PMO and vendors from around the globe to deliver these services.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Assess the needs of Software Engineering against current offerings
- Participate in daily, weekly, sprint cycle team ceremonies and inform efficient activities of the teams as aligned to goals
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring of team members
- Conduct technical and architectural review of projects and deliverables
- Assess business/development needs and produce detailed technical and architectural recommendations
- Prioritizing work based on business value and alignment to strategic priorities
- Inform and advise a program of work to mature the developer experience in collaboration with stakeholders
- Interview and participate in building teams to establish a center of excellence and expertise in the Technical Platform domains
- Participate in regular planning cycles to align business priorities to programs of work
- Provide, justify, and advocate recommendations, including resourcing, of strategic projects to mature and improve the technical platform
- Participate in architecting and delivering Managed Services that cover the following domains:
- Container Engineering and Orchestration
- Secrets Management
- Quality and Testing Practices
- Software Pipeline
- Developer Experience
- Observability Platform
- Public Cloud Infrastructure, Governance and Tools
- Data Streaming
- Cost Optimization
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES)
- Champion of architectural best practices in complex systems – Simpler is Better
- Strong advocate for practices in quality delivery from critical code review to strict team workflow practices
- Highly proactive and aware of the security and compliance aspects of software delivery
- Conscious of the developers need for speed of delivery and the enterprise need for governance and cost management
- Kubernetes Operations
- AWS Infrastructure and governance
- CI/CD industry trends and practices
- Observability best practices and industry trends
- Hands on experience delivering complex software in an enterprise environment
- Experience working in both Linux and Windows environments
